What's Growin' On? Student Newspapers
Free to Educators!
Plants contain nutrients people need to grow strong, resist disease and remain healthy through adulthood. Plants provide us with nutrition, but they require it too! Scientists have found that plants require 17 elements for survival. Want to learn more? Obtain a free class set of the “What’s Growin’ On?” student newspaper. This year’s edition, Planting Healthy Lives, will teach you a lot about these 17 essential plant nutrients along with other fun facts about California agriculture. From Field to Fridge to Fork: Following Food

Where does our food come from? What happens when we eat it? Journey from the farm to the table to reveal how food is grown, preserved, and prepared. Learn about fertilizers by doing activities that teach why fertilizer is important. Learn how we get the energy to live and play by looking at healthful food choices and investigating the process of digestion.
General admission is $4; children 3 and under are free. Tuesday-Friday, 2-4:30 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 11-4:30 p.m. at Explorit Science Center, 2801 Second St., Davis. For more information: (530) 756-0191 or www.explorit.org.
